The North West of England is the best region for families in the UK, according to a study by PropertyDetective.com. At Weale and Hitchen, we’re not surprised at all – we love it up here! The Family Friendliness Index compared a wide variety of services available to families in areas across the UK, and three locations in the North West made it into the overall top five.

The study reveals the UK’s 100 most family-friendly areas, and it even highlights individual roads. Here’s a look at the top five places to live as a family:
A number of factors were taken into account in the study, including availability of schools, quality of local amenities, crime rates and accessibility of local support networks. You can view the full list and see which aspects each location scored the highest marks for here.
Results were broken down into two further lists – best places to start a family, and best places to raise one. Shrigley Road in Bollington took the top spot in the battle for the best place to start a family, while Higher Whitley near Warrington was ranked as the best place to raise a family.
Planning a move? It’s important to research areas thoroughly before you begin looking at properties, especially if you have a young family that will likely make use of local amenities and services, such as schools and community centres. If you want to know if you live in one of the best places for families in the UK, or simply want to find out more about an area, check the postcode and see how it ranks.
